Butler Plaza’s Milestone PV Array Among Four PV Installations Leveraging Innovative Gainesville Regional Utility Feed-in Tariff Program
Gainesville, FL, October 22, 2010 – Today Clean Focus and its partners announced the completion of 2.2 MW worth of solar photovoltaic systems at four different sites in Gainesville, Florida. These Clean Focus solar installations form the largest project to date under the Gainesville Regional Utility (GRU) feed-in tariff program. The project’s flagship array is a 1.58MW system atop Butler Plaza, the largest at a retail center in the Southeast. Together, the solar rooftop systems generate three (3) million kWh of clean, reliable electricity on an annual basis – the equivalent to power 190 homes.
Gainesville, which enjoys abundant sunshine year round, has experienced significant growth in solar deployment owing to an innovative municipal solar incentive. The city’s Gainesville Regional Utility (GRU) feed-in tariff program has helped accelerate solar deployment tremendously.
“The Clean Focus Gainesville solar project is a great example of a feed-in tariff program facilitating the financing of valuable solar systems. Gainesville’s GRU program is leading the way for more feed-in tariff programs across the United States. The development and deployment of this project is delivering excellent ROI to our partners and investors,” said Stanley Chin, president and CEO of Clean Focus.
Clean Focus worked with Seminole Financial Services, LLC; the company furnished a $6.8 million construction loan to help deploy these solar power systems.
